A case report of Unicuspid Aortic valve disease discovered during a medical check-up




Abstract
Objective : During a routine medical check-up, a unicuspid aortic valve which is a kind of congenital heart disease was accidentally discovered in the patient. This is a report on the treatment plan for the patient.

Casuistics : A 49-year-old female patient who has a family history of heart disease complained of Dyspnea On Exercise. A Bicuspid aortic valve was suspected in the Transthoracic echocardiography, with moderate Aortic stenosis and ascending aorta dilatation. Additionally, Transesophageal echocardiography, Cardiac CT, and Cardiac MRI were carried out. In the Transesophageal echocardiography, a unicuspid aortic valve was accompanied by moderate Aortic stenosis, with a diagnosis of mild Aortic regurgitation and ascending aorta dilatation. In addition, coarctation of aorta has been diagnosed in the Cardiac CT and Cardiac MRI. For the patient, 25mg of Atenol was prescribed, and monitoring treatment is going to be carried out at intervals of 3 months. In the event that ascending aorta dilatation worsens, operation will be performed.
